- Notes From the Field: “This photo was taken at the park “Oasi di Sant’Alessio” in Pavia (Italy) – www.oasisantalessio.com – and portrays a fine specimen of cayman born in captivity. Free hand shot, not easy to carry out because of the shooting conditions: the cayman was plunged in a pool hidden behind the tree trunk, at water surface, diagonally to the observation point. In order to reproduce it with the angle-shot I wanted, that is frontal, so to take advantage of all reflections of the background in the water, I stood on the tips of my toes trying to cover the reflections on the observation glass through my body, as well as switching the live view on. Manual settings, with central reading of the weighed exposure. Nikon D700, 70/300 VR@220mm, 1600 iso, 1/80, f/7.1”— Claudia Rocchini
Editor’s Review:
“Nice profile shot. I like the sharpness of focus on the head and the off-center composition. The clarity and color of the eye and the soft background add to the overall appeal of the image. The perspective is engaging — I like the eye-level view!”
